It really is a mystery. I haven't been on the magnet hunt for a while. Really. I haven't.

New house to make homey, new office to get used to, new schedules to fulfill, new jam-riddled routes to take, new shows on TV to watch.....

I really haven't had the time, nay, the opportunity to buy new magnets at all!

Beary Harrods!

I have always wanted to stop by the Harrods in KLIA. I don't know why i have never done that ever. Well, this time i did, leaving my tired, disgruntled, jet-lagged Ma and baby sis Wokanna to hang on to my luggage while i ran into the famous green and gold signed door.

When i finally came out, my Ma and Wokanna's jetlags disappeared when they saw these bears! Being so tired, my Ma sent Wokanna in to get her some!!! :)

T'was indeed a very productive stop. Don't you think???

DIY English Plates

My good friend Anne went to the UK, and brought me some cute display plates as souvenirs - in addition to some magnets from London. So i displayed them proudly on my tv cabinet, and pray to God they don't get knocked over.

Then my Ma called me, and said she'd lost all her tiny plate stands, and asked if i have any to spare. I said no, but i suppose i could do something about it.

So i prepared all these items and set to work. I bought the magnet from this super stationery store near my house. I usually buy the round magnets, but they were sold out, so i guess this magnet will do.

So i cut the magnet into tiny pieces

put some glue on the plate and stick the magnets on!

The reason i used 2 pieces of magnets instead of 1 is that the plates are heavy, and since thse strip magnets are not as strong, it's better for us to be safe than sorry, right?

OK, they don't look pretty, but who cares!!! As long as they stick right??????

So now i have three matching plate magnets from London!

At Last....

The first time i saw this magnet was on an ad online. It was rather pricey, and i didn't know the seller. I reluctantly let it go.

The second time i tried to buy this magnet was on Mudah.my. 'Twas no longer available. I had no choice but to let it go.

Then my cousin in the UK was coming home, and i asked dher to buy one for me, IF she happened to pass by the area.... wouldn't want to trouble her with my obsession. She didn't pass through - not that i blame her. 'Twas indeed quite a distance from her place. I smiled and let it go.

My sister's colleague went to London for work. She ordered some from him. He came back with ONE magnet. Naturally, she gave it to my Ma. I willingly let it go.

My friend Anne planned a trip to the UK this month, and i ordered one from her. I was happy, knowing that i would finally get one from her. I waited.

2 weeks before Anne even boarded the plane to the UK, my good friend Ana called - her brother who's living in Munich was on one of his tours across Europe. He bought me one.

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ANA!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!

FINALLY!

Harrod's, Oh Harrod's!

When you are a shopahollic, i guess it'd be a dream to shop at grand, famous shops like Harrod's. I mean, the place sells elephants for crying out loud. It's one of those stores that require a dress code. So i once persuaded my Ma to buy a bottle of perfume from Harrod's in London, just for the sake of shopping at Harrod's. Then, i patiently waited for her to have newer perfumes so that she'd forget about that purple bottle, and i 'borrowed' it - and now i can tell people i have a bottle of Dior's Poison from Harrod's!! Somehow it sounded more posh and expensive when i mention the name.


So when i'd heard that Harrod's opened a branch in KLCC i asked if they sell magnets, and voila! The salesgirl pulled out 6 sweet hand-painted magnets with the Harrod's brand - bit overpriced though. So i called my cousin who lives in London and asked her to get me some - they're only 4.99 a piece there!!! So now i have these three, but i'm a hankerin to get my claws on the other three!


So far i have:

a cute Harrod's truck

a full shopping bag (ah... my dream come true)

and Harrod's Rodney bear!

As i understand it, the bear was named after Harrod's oldest and most loyal employee/doorman, Rodney. Ain't that sweet?

So now i'm biding my time til i get the other three!

Seeing Doubles

I've been to London several times, but i have to say, i wouldn't mind going again. And again. Some ask me why i would want to go again. I've been there. Why would i need to go again? The Red Double Decker Bus will always be the Red Double Decker Bus,

The British Underground will always be the British Underground,

so why would i want to go again?

Well, there's always something new to see. It's the same, but it's different.

So when some people ask me why i would need to have several magnets of the same sceneries or items, i tell them the same thing - well, the items may be the same, but it different!



Take this magnet for example. It's one of the Queen's guards. A bear in a bearskin hat.

This one is also of a Queen's guard - but this Queen's guard is not a bear. AND there's the Tower Bridge in the picture.

This one has the Tower Bridge too. But it also has the Eye of London, St Paul's Cathedral AND the Big Ben.

This one is of the Big Ben only. It's 3D, it's intricate, it's beautiful.

And this one is the Big Ben AND a policeman! Helloelloello!

See? Nothing wrong with having more than one magnet of the same item. The more, the merrier!

Hello?? Anyone There??

If you think of London, you'll think of a few red things - the double decker bus, the soldier in the red uniform with the bearskin hat, and of course, the red telephone box. I like those red phone boxes so much i once spent all my coins calling Malaysia for 25 seconds just so that i can say i've used one of those things before.

This colourful rubber magnet was a birthday gift from my officemate Azie. See? It's easy to buy gifts for a magnet lover!

And this 3D phone booth was a gift from my beloved cousin who lives in the UK.
